Abigail's Foray Into Journalism: Fatman's Interview!

Hello Petentials community! I just wanted to share with you the interview I had with Fatman, my most recent interview-prey. Fatman is a golden gecko with the Zoo clan here on Petentials.com. He shares a home and guardian with two cats (Luke and Leia), a red-foot tortoise (Bubba), and three red-eared sliders (Larry, Moe, and Buddy). Read on to see how he answered all of my questions! – Abigail

Abigail: Hello Fatman. How are you doing?
Fatman: Just chillin’ in my sweet bachelor pad.

A: Cool. Now, Fatman is an interesting name. How did you come by it?
F: Well, it’s hard to believe that I was skinny once, and all of my friends thought I had an eating disorder, but I proved them wrong.

A: As a gecko, what information can you give to future gecko guardians?
F: Well, I’m arboreal and come from the humid climates of Viet Nam. Geckos like me need tall enclosures with a source of heat and branches to climb on. It also helps to have a special place – a hidey-hole so I can distress since cricket hunts are very taxing on the muscles…at least I think so.

A: That’s some very interesting and helpful information. You’ve stated on your profile that you love crickets. What is it about these insects that have you doing back flips?
F: It’s all about the hunt. Chasing them keeps me fit and trim…and muscular. And their legs have just the right amount of seasoning.

A: Speaking of back flips, the craziest thing you’ve ever done was try to back flip onto the ceiling. What possessed you to even try it in the first place?
F: It didn’t look that far away. And I did come pretty close.

A: That’s pretty impressive. What are your feelings on felines? You do live with two younger cats. Do you like them? Are they troublesome for you?
F: The ones I live with are always troublesome. They knock over my cricket cage and eat the crickets for themselves. But if you’re thinking I’d be scared of them; I’m not; I’d bite them…although I don’t like their claws.

A: Well, they are just kittens for now. But speaking of baby animals, how would you feel about little Fatmen loose in the world? Could there be some already?
F: Unfortunately there aren’t enough little Fatmen running around in this world.

A: Now about your relationship history, you’ve said you’ve been burned by love before. May I ask what happened? Anything to do with the lack of little Fatmen in the world?
F: No, and although I’ve moved on, I’m not sure I’m ready to talk about it just yet.

A: Oh okay. Well I’ll throw you a weird one then. How do you feel about lizard leashes?
F: Uh, I need to be my own lizard. Climb the walls on my own terms.

A: I totally understand and I’m sure your guardian would agree. But speaking of your guardian is there anything you wish that wonderful cricket-bringer would do for you? Any additions to your clan, new items or features for your living space, a special lady lizard perhaps?
F: If she can’t find that lady lizard, all I require are more crickets and some attention. I’m a low maintenance kind of lizard.

A: Nice to know. And since we’ve breached the topic of lady lizards, my final question is for the benefit of all the lady lizards out there in the community. Could you tell us what you’re looking for in a significant other?
F: The lady lizards…She’s got to be the right shade of gold and willing to share a tree branch. Any of you ladies want a cricket smoothie?

A: Well thank you very much for answering my questions and chatting with me. I hope you enjoyed it and congratulations on being the featured profile of the month!
F: I enjoyed it. Thanks for picking me.
