Himmel, I hope you are having a great birthday today, complete with lots of tuna fish, feathers, cat nip toys, stings, and big pieces of paper to play with. (At least those are some of the favorites at this house.)

Patches, Tom Cat, Sweetpea, Pippi, and Cheeky
... and various others
Well, Mom has a desk computer that she uses most of the time. She got a calendar and keeps it in there - safely buried under a big pile of papers. Or so she says. The other night she was using a laptop while sitting in bed and was too tired to go look at the calendar - or dig under all the papers to find it. Tee hee hee. Mom just makes up dates for the cats. She knows how old they are, but they were all strays that adopted us, so she doesn't really know what day they were born. Cheeky and I were luckier in that respect.

Mom wasn't too sure about all this chatting and such, but we sure have had a lot of fun with it. Hopefully Mom will quit thinking the dogs are so cute soon and get back to me being the center of the universe. I have had to resort to sleeping with the dogs to get more time with Mom. Do you have that problem, too?

I was afraid of Pippi at first, but finally decided if I still wanted to spend a lot of time with Mom I might as well get in there and join them. That and Mom told Pippi to think of me as her cat and she would have to take care of me and watch out for me. Must have worked because Pippi has been better ever since.
Mom's laptop is getting pretty old and slow. She would like a new one, but that's not in the budget right now. She wishes we had wireless connections at the house, too, so she could sit in the comfy chair and watch tv while on the computer. Or out on the sun porch (when it cools off a little of course). Until then she will just have to settle for a lap dog or two when sitting in the comfy chair. Tee hee hee.
Personally I am hoping that Mom fences in the yard before she gets a new computer. I went to the dog park for the first time last week. Oh boy it was fin to run and run and run with no leash to stop me!

The only time Pippi gets bad about it is if Mom tries to pick me or Patches up. Then Pippi goes nuts and tries to jump up and bite your tail. Not sure how we are going to work on that one since neither Patches nor I wants to help Mom practice and improve on that one. My tail is already shorter than normal. I don't need it nipped.
Only one other dog showed up while we were there, and I was happy to have a new friend to play with. My human cousins were there with us and I ran around with one of them. It was great to have room to really run and not have to stop. Our house isn't set up well to run inside. Before you can really get going well you are at the other side of the room. I run circles in Mom's room, but it's just not the same. So Mom is saving up and hoping she can fence the yard in for us. At least we will have more room to run then.

My tail was broken and the tip burned a little when I was a tiny kitten. My kitty mama must have put my up on a car engine to keep me warm one bitterly cold November evening. I was small enough to be held in one hand and not really big enough to be away from mama. Luckily someone heard me mewing and found me before they started their car. They took me inside where a function was just wrapping up and that's where I met my Mom. She held me and that was it. The vet thought they were going to have to amputate my tail, and possibly should have. I can only move it up and down, not side to side, and it's obvious it was broken in the past (years ago now). It hurts when someone picks me up the wrong way and moves my tail to the side. That's why Mom wonders if the tail should have been cut off just below where the break was. I had part of one foot that was burned also, but you can't tell where any of that was now. However, with all of that my tail did not reach it's full length and is a little short and very crooked.
Cheeky and I are about opposites on many things. I love being around other dogs and other people, cats, squirrels, you name it. I want to be in the middle of it. Cheeky gets shy and goes and hides behind Mom half the time. I loved it when I was in class. To me that was PLAY TIME with weekly play dates. Cheeky's good points - she can loose leash walk. Me, no way! Mom may weigh too much for me to pull, but I'm going to try with all my might ... at least some of the time. I'm helping Mom tone up her arm muscles. :) Cheeky will heel. I think I need to be in front ... often pulling he stragglers along. :)I never growled or snipped at my classmates. We both keep Mom laughing though.
Sweetpea does that to Cheeky and I sometimes. It's got to be a cat thing. Cheeky and I don't know what to think of it and often back up as well or run away. Every now and then I (gently) start chewing on Sweetpea's ear ... which she informs me must be a dog thing. Tee hee hee.

Mom has threatened to do that, but she worries about me since I'm an indoor/outdoor cat. She's afraid I won't be able to defend myself outside if I needed to. So instead she gets me with a squirt gun or water bottle. I just hate that.

Oh wow. I understand your mom not having Shilo declawed. I would worry about him, too. Hopefully he does not get himself into trouble. Until recently Mom thought one of the other cats was doing most of the damage here. She has caught me in the act though lately and she is beginning to wonder. Darn the bad luck.
Last night Cheeky, Sweetpea and I were all trying to sleep on top of Mom ... at the same time. She said we were roasting her and that if we keep that up she will be able to save a lot of money not heating the house as much this winter. She thinks we all just love her and want to be close but the truth is we were playing a game of king of the mountain. Not too easy when your mountain keeps moving. Tee hee hee.
I decided to play a different game last night. I paw on Mom's head until she lifts the covers and makes it easy for me to crawl under them. I sit there about two minutes then sneak out the side of the bed. I make a quick lap around the room and start all over again. Mom didn't seem to like that game very much either. As a matter of fact after about the 10th time she told me the game was over. She is such a party pooper in the middle of the night.

Uh oh. Does Shilo get in trouble because he wants the window, too? Most of the time I don't get into too much trouble, and even when I do, Pippi has usually done so much more. Kind of makes whatever I did look like nothing. On the other hand Pippi is just a year old and still a puppy and I am six years old.
I am getting very good at getting under the covers and hogging them. I can get curled up in there just right and then as I wiggle I pull the covers off Mom. BOL

Sometimes Mom says Pippi needs a big dog in the house for her to play with. I'm sure Pip would love it, but I'm still getting used to dogs. Not too sure about that idea. Other days Mom says it's a good thing Pippi isn't taller or doesn't have a taller partner in crime - because then nothing would be safe!

Yeah. I'm not wanting a big dog. I try to make sure to crowd into the little bathroom with Mom, Pippi and Cheeky to make sure Mom knows there isn't room for another dog, especially a big one. But she just loves it every time she sees a Great Dane. I am come on. That's not a dog that's a small horse!

I think Mom has given up on the idea of a big dog - at least for now. The dogs and I are doing better all the time, and Patches, who is 18, is starting to come closer to the dogs and stay in the room with us. Pip even let me sit on Mom's lap this evening. Cheeky didn't like it and barked at me, but she wasn't tall enough to do anything about it. So I sat up tall and gloated.
