Holy wow, Binx saw two real live black bears yesterday!

Oh my goodness, I saw two real live Black Bears yesterday! We went for a ride yesterday to a place called Christmas, Florida and when we got there we stopped at this store that was the shape of a HUGE alligator! Holy wow! When we got out of the car there were two black bears that were behind a double big fence in the parking lot. With all the training classes that I have been going to and training with Mom the rest of the week I have learned to sit still and be a lot calmer. Mom had my leash and we sat in the parking lot and looked at the bears. I have never seen anything like them! Before I started my classes believe me when I say that I would have so barked a whole lot at them that is for sure! Well, all of a sudden the one bear realized that I was there and stood right up and grabbed the fence and shook it and made this loud growl like noise! Well, I just had to do a little barking then! Not much though! I swear, that scared the whiskers about right off me! I even got to go inside the store to buy bear food for them! The girl that works at the store gave me a bag of treats because I was sitting there being really good next to my mommy right where she told me to sit! And then there was a squirrel that came inside the store, they had the door open. That squirrel came almost right up to me! I have to tell you, I am a herder and it was not an easy thing to sit still and watch that squirrel! Mom was so proud of me she said! I still can’t believe that I saw real, live bears! I am so glad that they were behind those fences! They are so much bigger than I am that is for sure! Well, until the next adventure…… Oh, this is not the bear that I saw yesterday, but looks just like it!

WOWIE! Lots of nature in one day! :]] Were the bears closed in?

Hi there Sissy! Thanks for

Hi there Sissy! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Oh yes, there was a double fence to seperate them from people! There is no way that I would have sat so still for a bit before they noticed me if they were not closed it, oh no, mom and I would have run right back to the car! Yikes! Have you ever seen real bears up close before?

Abby

We have seen many bears up

We have seen many bears up close. We have one now living somewhere very close to our house up north. We saw some evidence so to speak that it left behind, again this weekend within 50 feet. We are trying to figure out where it is so we are prepared should we come upon each other by mistake. There are no fences so we will have to scare it away and hope it leaves for good. That is what the ministry says to do. We might have to call the bear guy to come and trap it and relocate it, but gee there are hundreds around up there and we are hoping it just leaves. Training is good, bears do not like barking dogs, usually the take to the hills. Binx you are very good not to go after it, cause for sure it would consider you a threat.

Hi Abby! Oh my goodness!

Hi Abby! Oh my goodness! That is sure close to your house up there! I sure hope that it toddles off somewhere else before you come face to face! I am so glad that there was a double fence there between the two bears and us! I am working very hard on my training that is for sure! It is not easy for a vocal Sheltie like me to sit there and just watch that is for sure! :)

Pippi

Wow, Binx. It's hard to

Wow, Binx. It's hard to imagine not barking at a bear. Heck I had to bark at the scare crow Mom put out and Cheeky barked at the flag. BOL

Cheeky

OK, Pip. I may bark at the

OK, Pip. I may bark at the flag, but I think if we saw a bear I would be behind Mom being as quiet as a mouse. You may not realize it, but we are LITTLE dogs. Binx, it sounds like your classes are really working.

Binx, CGC

Hi there Pippi and Cheeky! I

Hi there Pippi and Cheeky! I always love your notes you leave for me about my adventures and everything! I could not believe that there were bears! It was nuts I say, mom was all excited! She says she loves to see bears, just not without a fence between them and us! I am not sure, but when that one bear shook that fence at me and made that loud noise I really think that it thought I was lunch or something! Yikes! Yup, the classes are working great, if they were not then I would have had to bark my fluffy head off as mom likes to say! :)

Sissy

No Binx, I haven't, and your

No Binx, I haven't, and your welcome, I am very glad that you were a good boy, those training classes have seemed to paid off, huh? Our family has a cabin in the mountains of Colorado, about two and a half hours from my aunt and uncle's place twenty five minutes from Denver. I have never been, but at the cabin we had some logs stacked up near the deck, well just like Abby said a bear left some evidence, it had shredded a log into little pieces!

Binx, CGC

Holy wow Sissy, a shredded

Holy wow Sissy, a shredded log!!!! That must have been one BIG bear I would think! It is probably a good thing that you have not been there so that you dont' run into it! Well, have to get ready for my class in a little while. Mom made me chicken for a treat to take there! Yum!! :)

Abby

Yup there was probably some

Yup there was probably some bugs in that log. Either that or you have some really big termites. Bears will also turn over rocks to get at the bugs underneath. We see that all the time. Yuk

Titan

Wow Binx!!! That's so

Wow Binx!!! That's so cool!!! It's a good thing you didn't chase them....I hear bears are a lot bigger than us dogs!!!

Binx, CGC

Be careful Abby, we don't

Be careful Abby, we don't want to ever hear that a bear got you or your family up there! Oh my goodness! And Titan, those bears were for sure bigger than us dogs! It was a real good thing that they were behind 2 fences! Mom has photos and will put them on here tomorrow! :)

Sissy

YUMM! Yes, they say it was

YUMM! Yes, they say it was quite frightening, no evidence yet again, there are horses behind the lot, part of the neighbors land, we think they might have scared him off, we have like 40 acres, spread apart houses, i'd love to roam up there one day, mom would have to do a tick check though!

Abby

Don't worry about us too

Don't worry about us too much Binx. We are bearwise and have lived around them for many years. Ticks, yikes, Sissy. We are lucky we do not have them up North. Well not in Haliburton anyway. My Auntie had a tick bite from her cottage. It was way up past Sudbury and further north near Elliot Lake. They are nasty little things. Don't worry about the bears. They are more afraid of you then you are of them. If you ever go there Sissy, just be mindful, in case you should cross paths. You can get bear bells at stores and have your mom attached one to your collar. They will hear you and will more than likely run away :)

Hershey

Thats awesome. I've driven

Thats awesome. I've driven by that alligator place, but never been in. Theres actually an exotic animal rescue out there in Christmas that my owner used to volunteer at its called Fallin Pines Critter Rescue www.fallinpinesrescue.org. They have Kangaroos and dingos and swans and lots of other cool animals

Binx, CGC

Hi there Sissy, Abby, and

Hi there Sissy, Abby, and Hershey. Sorry it took so long to reply here to everyone. Mom had her class Thursday and has been doing a TON of school work lately. I can't wait for her vacation so that she can take a break with me! Anyway, Sissy,I hope that you get to roam around that place sometime soon, that sounds like a whole lot of fun! I have never seen a tick before. Be careful and don't let them get on you! Abby, from all the stuff you have told us since we have been friends I have no doubt that you guys are all very bearwise!! When is the last time that you have seen one there? And Hershey, that building is huge isn't it! They let me go right inside the store but not to past that. The only animals I got to see were those 2 bears and the squirrel. Mom will have to check out the site you told us about! Thanks for the tip! :)
